Anyone that is married will know what the "Cold Shoulder" means, well this woman is showing it. There is definate space between her and the rest of the canvas.
Size: 130*97cm
Year: 2002
Medium: Gold and silve leaf on canvas
Robin is an artist who has a unique stamp: he works on gold and silver leaf. The style of completely covering the canvas with gold or silver, and in some cases both, is unusual to say the least. Also, being particular to an art movement called Assemblage. Very similar to collage, but instead of 2 dimensional, it also includes 3 dimensional objects

The Furnice
This was a real joy to paint, and today it was joy to give away. It was given to the local health centre. The doctors and nurses there are friendly and always a pleasure to speak to, and I think they needed someone to say well done. So I donated this picture to the centre.

The Blue Yonder
This is one of the very few paintings that colour was used.
The positive section was done with silver leaf, but the background was done with gold leaf.
The size of the canvas is 100*81cm.
The title of the picture is "The Blue Yonder". It reminds me of the time when I used to hike though the mountains of South Africa. Standing on top of a mountain and looking out over the scene below. The feeling of being on top of the world is enough to make one feel like disrobing and chilling out.

Bed Feet
This is very different o all my other paintings, because the perspective is not at two paints but in the centre.
The title is "Bed Feet" because they were the feet of my wife while lying on the bed, and her cabinet next to her.
The size of this is 116*92cm, and naturally was done with gold and silver leaf, placed on canvas.

Detached
This I also think is one of my better paintings. the title says it all - "Detached". Well at least I think it does. For those that do not understand the title I will explain: Have you ever been in a crowded room and feel that you are alone. This is what this painting is about. This person is sitting in a room and very far away there is a group of people standing and talking, but in reality they are vdery much closer to him/her. This painting was also done on gold leaf and is 100*81cm

The Navel
This was done because I like the contrast between light and shade. The face in particular was a real challenge because it had a shadow that could make the nose look completely wrong. But I was happy with the results eventually.
The size of this painting is 100*81cm
This has been presented to a wine label board and if they accept it it could be used on a very good Portuguese wine. So here´s hoping.

The Reading
This was the very first painting I did in gold leaf. It was a case of "What If?". In other words, what if I cover the whole canvas with gold leaf and then paint on it. Well that is just what I did, and the moment it was finished I knew that I had come up with something new. Since then I have done a lot of painting with this technique.
The title is: The Reading. As it looks like she could be reading a book that you can not see.

Oh Pity Mankind
This painting is the best I have done, am I have to admit that I´m deeply sorry that it has been sold. This painting represents the fact that our world is no longer the same as it was. Just like the period before the first world war was so different, so today is dramatically different than before September 11.
Who knows maybe one day I´ll buy it back?!
This was painted with far too much emotion to have been sold, this was the day that the world changed. That is why the title is called "Oh Pity Mankind"

Wind In Hair
It has been some time since I added anything to my blog, so this has been added today.
The inspiration for this was taken from a comic book. There are some really nice comic books, that some some fantastic drawings in them. Do I hear the words "grow up!". Well coming up to 48 years of age I still like certain comics.
This paintings was done on gold and silver leaf, like most of my work. The size of the canvas is 100*81cm
Hope you like it!!!!!!
